Installation
System Requirements
Section titled “System Requirements”- Operating System: Windows 10 (build 1903+) or Windows 11
- Runtime: No additional runtime required — MZAP ships as a self-contained Native AOT executable
- Audio: At least one audio output device (DirectSound, WASAPI, or ASIO)
- Disk: ~50 MB for the application
- RAM: 128 MB minimum, more for large media libraries
Download
Section titled “Download”Download the latest MZAP installer from the official website:
Install
Section titled “Install”- Run the downloaded installer (
MZAP-Setup.exe) - Follow the installation wizard
- Launch MZAP from the Start menu or desktop shortcut
MZAP installs as a standalone desktop application that includes both the audio engine and a built-in web UI.
First Launch
Section titled “First Launch”When you launch MZAP for the first time, the application window opens on the Welcome screen — a quick tour of MZAP’s main concepts with cards for Devices, Players, Zones, Matrix Routing, Radio Browser, and the Scheduler. A Documentation card at the bottom of the Welcome screen has an Open Documentation button that launches this site in your default browser.
On first launch — and every launch after — MZAP automatically detects and initializes all available audio devices. No manual setup is required to get sound working.
To review your hardware:
- Navigate to the Devices page
- You’ll see every detected audio device listed, with zones already created — one per channel on each device
- A Refresh button is available on the Audio Devices screen, but it is not fully implemented yet — for now, restart MZAP if you plug in new hardware and need it picked up
You’re now ready to create players and start routing audio. See the Quick Start guide for next steps.
Opening the Documentation
Section titled “Opening the Documentation”You can open this documentation site from inside the app at any time:
- Help menu → Documentation — opens docs.multizoneaudioplayer.com in your default browser.
- Welcome screen → Open Documentation — same destination, from the Welcome tab’s Documentation card.
Updating
Section titled “Updating”MZAP includes a built-in update checker. When a new version is available, you’ll see a notification in the application. You can also check for updates manually via Settings > Check for Updates.
Uninstall
Section titled “Uninstall”Use the standard Windows Apps & Features settings to uninstall MZAP. Application data (workspaces, presets, media library) is stored in %APPDATA%\MZAP\ and is not removed during uninstall — delete this folder manually if you want a clean removal.
