Offline Activation

For machines without internet access, MZAP supports offline activation using request/response files.

Process

Section titled “Process”
  1. In MZAP, go to Settings > License > Offline Activation
  2. Click Generate Request File — this creates a .req file containing your hardware ID
  3. Transfer the .req file to a machine with internet access
  4. Upload it to the activation portal at activate-offline
  5. Download the generated .lic response file
  6. Transfer the .lic file back to the MZAP machine
  7. In MZAP, click Import License File and select the .lic file

The license is now activated and does not require further internet access.

License File Verification

Offline .lic files are cryptographically signed by the MZAP license server and verified by the desktop app. A .lic file whose contents have been tampered with — or that was not signed by the MZAP license server — is rejected with an “Invalid offline license file” error rather than being trusted.

Verification runs when the file is imported and again every time the app starts; if the stored copy fails verification it is removed and the activation screen is shown. Multiple signing keys are supported simultaneously, so a server-side key rotation does not invalidate .lic files issued under a previous key. The offline activation workflow itself is unchanged — generate .req, receive .lic, import as before.
