Transferring to Another PC
Each MZAP license is bound to the hardware it was activated on, but you can move it to a different machine yourself — no support ticket needed in most cases. The key is to deactivate the old machine first so its activation slot is freed, then reuse the same license key on the new machine.
Transfer Steps
Section titled “Transfer Steps”- On the old PC, open MZAP and click the About button (bottom-left corner of the main menu)
- In the About dialog, click Deactivate This Machine and confirm
- MZAP contacts the activation server, removes the license from the device, and frees the activation slot
- Install MZAP on the new PC — see Installation
- Open MZAP on the new PC, click About, enter the same license key, and click Activate
Your license is now bound to the new machine.
If You Can’t Deactivate
Section titled “If You Can’t Deactivate”Deactivation requires the old machine to be running MZAP and able to reach the activation server. If that’s not possible — for example, the PC failed, was wiped, or is no longer available — email support and include:
- Your license key
- The computer name or approximate activation date of the old machine
- A short note that you need the old activation slot released
Support can release the slot manually so you can activate on the new PC.
Offline Machines
Section titled “Offline Machines”If either PC is air-gapped, follow Offline Activation instead. The offline flow handles both releasing and reissuing the license through request/response files.
- Deactivation is self-service and takes effect immediately — there is no cooldown before you can reactivate on another machine
- The same license key is reused; you do not receive a new key when transferring
- Hardware fingerprint is derived from motherboard and CPU identifiers, so a major hardware change on the same PC (e.g. motherboard swap) is treated like a transfer — deactivate before replacing the part if possible
